Research

Cover Number 1:

1)The cover is the lead singer of the American rock bad , 'Bullet For My Valentine' ; he is being  portrayed as stereotypically masculine and violent due to him is wielding a sword and wearing stereotypical 'rock' clothing. His facial expression adds to his masculine portrayal. The photo was taken in a medium long shot, showing the upper half of his body.

2)The cover lines include details on the bands/artists featured in the entire magazine, for example 'Fall out Boy are back!' referencing to Fall Out Boy's 3 year long hiatus ending in 2013. Other subjects, such as musical posters, advertisements for new musicians and quotes from famous artists. 

3)The colour scheme on the main photo is dull, featuring different shades of grey, black and white. The models outfit is a plain grey symbolising a masculine yet monochromatic scheme. However, the additions and advertisements are popping out in a bright red background. Other accent colours include yellow, white and green. 

4)The masthead is in an original, almost scratched-looking font, in a bold white colour.

Cover Number 2:

1)The cover is the lead singer of the american rock band 'Foo Fighters', Dave Grohl, Grohl is also (most notably) famous for being the previous drummer for the Washington-originated band 'Nirvana". He is shown in a mid close-up shot; his facial expression is stoic and unemotional. 

2)The cover lines link back to his musical discography; above his name (shown in bold colours to emphasise his importance within the music industry), 'Foo Fighters Exclusive!" along with 'The songs that saved his life... (and the) Nirvana Reading '92". 

3) The colour scheme on the main photo is a blue, blurry background. However Grohl is pictured wearing a fully black outfit to allow him to stand out against the background. The yellows, reds, whites and greys are all important to highlight and enunciate specific words and phrases. 

4) The masthead is in a bold, white font ; however it's partially hidden behind Grohl, to further highlight his importance as the main model.
